PIMA COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Pima County Sheriff's Department has identified the victim of a fatal crash involving a car and bicycle on Sunday, Jan. 24.

69-year-old Patricia Lyon-Surrey died after being hit by a vehicle driven by 89-year-old James Jacobson, authorities said.

The crash happened just before noon. According to a media release, Lyon-Surrey was riding west on Sunrise Drive in a designated bicycle lane when Jacobson merged onto Sunrise from Skyline Drive and hit her.

Jacobson showed no signs of impairment and agreed to have his blood drawn, according to the release. Lyon-Surrey was pronounced dead shortly after deputies arrived.

This marked the first bicycle fatality of 2016 for the Pima County Sheriff's Department, according to PCSD spokesman Dep. Ryan Inglett.

Westbound Skyline Drive was completely shut down for much of the day, while deputies conducted their investigation.
