TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A child has been taken to the hospital with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries after being hit while riding a bike.

Sgt. Pete Dugan of the Tucson Police Department said the boy, who is younger than 10 years old, was with his sister at the time.

The two were attempting to cross Alvernon Way near Hampton Place when he was hit. The driver did not stop.

There were several witnesses in the area who all helped render aid to the child.

They told police the child was hit by a white pickup, utility-style truck.
