ARIVACA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Pima Regional SWAT, the bomb squad, and search and rescue crews are responding to a remote part of Arivaca, searching for a man who reportedly ran into an abandoned mine.

The Pima County Sheriff's office said the man was part of a group that was being apprehended by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Wednesday evening. Authorities say while they were taking the group into custody, one man ran away and escaped into the mine.

Due to potential dangers associated with abandoned mines, special units were called in to search the mine safely.
