TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A company is expanding a recall of its organic shake product because of potential salmonella contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Garden of Life LLC is expanding its product recall of its Raw Meal "Organic Shake and Meal Replacement" that comes in Chocolate, Original, Vanilla, and Vanilla Chai flavors.
An ingredient used in certain batches of the product could possibly be contaminated with salmonella, the company said in an FDA announcement released on Saturday, Feb. 13.
The FDA and the company said the probable source of the contamination is from a supplier who provided "Organic Moringa Leaf" powder that was used in the Raw Meal product.
Garden of Life has already asked retailers to remove the products specified in the recall.
Consumers should also check the lot information HERE.
Consumers are also asked to return any products in this recall and ask for a refund.
