1 man dead, 1 suspect in custody after shooting in Sierra Vista

SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Sierra Vista police are investigating a homicide at Sierra Bella Apartments in the 1500 block of Busby Drive.
Police were called out to the apartment complex after someone reported shots fired just after 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
Police found one man lying dead in the parking lot.
An intense manhunt took place in the area.
Police put nearby Joyce Clark Middle School in lockdown as they searched for the suspect.
Cochise County Sheriff's Office also sent in their helicopter to aid in the search.
Deputy Chief Daryl Copp said police found the suspect hiding in the field about an hour and a half later.
Police spent about six hours gathering evidence in the apartment complex.
Copp described this homicide as a rare event, adding there are not many homicides in Sierra Vista.
"Sometimes we'll go years without any homicides," Copp said.
Family members of the victim showed up at the crime scene.
They declined to talk on camera, but said the victim and suspect had been good friends, and that the suspect lives in the apartment complex.
Police have not released any names at this time.
The suspect is in custody and was being interviewed by a Spanish-speaking officer on Friday night.
A motive for the crime was still under investigation
