Ex-fire captain's murder trial set for October

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The former Tucson Fire Department captain accused of killing three people more than a decade ago will go to trial this fall.

David Watson's murder trial is scheduled to continue on Oct. 4. The original May start date was vacated, the court announced on Friday, March 25.

A jury will be drawn from a pool of 200 and the trial is expected to last six weeks.

Watson, who pleaded not guilty, was arrested in April 2015 after years of investigation by authorities.

He has been accused of killing his ex-wife Linda Watson, her mother Marilyn Cox and Cox's friend Renee Farnsworth.

Linda Watson went missing in 2000, her remains were found and her body identified in 2012. Cox and Farnsworth we killed 2003 at the same home where Watson disappeared.
