Local furniture company receives 'F' rating
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Better Business Bureau has just given Circus Furniture in Tucson an "F" rating.
The BBB said many customers are out thousands of dollars after they ordered furniture that either was never delivered or was damaged.
"I think it's wrong and it's fraud and they're thieves," Melanie Tesh said.
Tesh said she ordered living room furniture from the Circus Furniture located on Fort Lowell Road in July 2015 – and she still doesn't have all of it.
Last summer she tried to get to the bottom of it, but said only got the run-around.
"After calling them, weeks and weeks, getting excuses," Tesh said. They didn't put it on the truck and the manager was never around."
Several customers told the BBB that when they called the furniture store, the number was often disconnected.
Those who did get a hold of someone said they received multiple excuses instead of a solution to the problem.
Others reported they were expecting a callback, but never received one.
Even online, it's clear the company doesn't have the best reputation.
Tesh eventually filed a complaint in small claims court and reported the company to the BBB.
"We reached out to the business to try and resolve the matter with customers and they wouldn't respond," said Ryan Foster with the BBB.
Tucson News Now went to the business to try to talk to management.
Richard Saoa blamed the previous owner, and said Circus Furniture is run under a federal bankruptcy court.
He said he was specifically hired by the bankruptcy court to eliminate the inventory.
As for Tesh, she said she learned her lesson and will never do business with the company again.
The BBB recommends consumers check a company's BBB rating before doing business with them.
"I wish I would've went the smart way about it and checked the BBB first. That's my best advice," Tesh said.
