ORO VALLEY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Arizona Christian University's football program is young but growing.

Last season the Firestorm had six players on their roster from Southern Arizona. The number will grow with the addition of Canyon del Oro quarterback Noah Soto.

Soto signed a Letter of Intent Wednesday to attend the NAIA school in Phoenix.

ACU is increasingly becoming a valuable option for Southern Arizona athletes.

Ironwood Ridge basketball player P.J. Pena inked to continue his athletics career at the Christian school.

Soto scored 56 touchdowns during his three-year Varsity career with the Dorados, including 44 passing scores.

In a junior season in which he led CDO to the playoffs, Soto threw 26 touchdown passes to just three interceptions while amassing over 21-hundred yards.

ACU fielded their first football program in 2014. Last season the Firestorm went 6-3, including an undefeated 6-0 to win the Central States Football League.
