Tucson police arrest shooting suspect

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Tucson police have arrested a suspect involved in a shooting on Tucson's east side on Friday, April 22.

Police arrested 19-year-old Robert Steven Balderrama on Saturday, April 23, and booked him into the Pima County Jail.

Balderrama was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated assault with serious physical injury.

Police said Balderrama turned himself in after surveillance photos of him were circulated by news outlets and on social media.

The arrest resulted from a shooting that sent a man to the hospital on Friday.

Officers responded to the area after an argument escalated at a nearby parking lot. Police said as the altercation continued, a pedestrian with a handgun shot a man multiple times.

The victim's injuries are described as not life-threatening.
