Woman gets probation for fire that killed 12-year-old child

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The mother of a disabled boy who died in a house fire, was sentenced to four years of probation on Thursday, May 12.

Susan Matthews was charged with negligent homicide on Jan. 29, 2015, following a Pima County Sheriff's Department and Department of Child Safety Investigation into the deadly fire.

Matthews' northwest side home caught on fire on the morning of Sept. 7, 2014. Her 12-year-old son, Patrick, died from injuries sustained in the fire.
