TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Several employees at Joe's Crab Shack in Tucson said Tuesday that they are now former employees because the restaurant has closed its doors.

People could be seen loading supplies from inside the business onto U-haul trucks waiting in the parking lot. A phone call to the restaurant went unanswered.

Some employees, asking to remain anonymous, said they found out about the closing from an emergency conference call at 8:30 in the morning.

One former employee estimated the location, on Wilmot between Speedway and Broadway, maintained almost 40 jobs.

Another former employee said she recently quit another part-time job to make the move to full-time at Joe's Crab Shack.

A letter detailing severance pay was provided by a former employee. It outlines how the money is not required by law, but corporate leadership would provide a certain amount of money depending on how many hours an employee recently logged.

Messages into Ignite Restaurant Group were not returned at the time of this story.
