PICACHO PEAK, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash that restricted westbound lanes of I-10 near Picacho Peak on Tuesday, June 13.

According to a spokesman from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the victim was a 78-year-old woman from the area. She was headed east when she lost control, crossed the median onto westbound lanes and her vehicle rolled over.

There is no word yet on what caused her to lose control and the crash remains under investigation. DPS expects restrictions to remain at least until 6 p.m.

According to a tweet from DPS spokesman Quentin Mehr, the crash at milepost 221 involved one vehicle and two outside lanes are blocked by debris.

The crash briefly caused a traffic back-up of nearly twenty miles, but that improved to only about five miles, according to Mehr.

No further details of the crash or the victim were immediately available. Stay with Tucson News Now for updates.
