TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Passengers arriving at Tucson International Airport now have two options for ride-sharing services.

On Thursday, the Tucson Airport Authority and Uber announced they have reached an agreement.

Uber will now be allowed to pick-up arriving passengers through the company's mobile app and it may begin immediately.

The TAA and Lyft announced their agreement Wednesday afternoon and service began on Thursday.

As with Lyft, Uber will be able to pick-up passengers from the designated area next to the Rental Car Facility.

"This is great news for our customers," TAA President and CEO Bonnie Allin said. "We now have the two transportation methods that our customers have been asking for. We're happy to be able to announce that Uber can now pick-up TUS passengers."

TAA officials said they have been working for months to find a solution to allow the ride service companies to operate at the airport.

"We are very pleased to launch uberX rideshare pick-ups at Tucson International Airport and thank the Tucson Airport Authority for the support," General Manager of Uber Arizona Steve Thompson said. "Now, residents and visitors from across Arizona and beyond will have the option to push a button and have the convenience of a ride when they land."
