BABOQUIVARI MOUNTAINS (Tucson News Now) - A fire burning southwest of Tucson in the Baboquivari Mountains has burned one unoccupied structure since it broke out Friday morning, according to the Arizona State Forestry office.

The Brown Fire, burning on the east side of the mountains in the Brown Bear Canyon area, has burned about 1,200 acres and has 0 percent containment. It was detected shortly after 7 a.m. Friday.

Hot, dry, windy conditions are helping propel the fire through grass and brush. Firefighting resources include three type 2 hand crews, one type 1 hand crew, three T6 engines, one SEAT and about 150 people.

The cause remains under investigation.

The Baboquivari Mountains are about 25 miles southwest of Three Points.
