Burglarized bike shop needs your help finding stolen bicycles
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The search is on to find the criminals who burglarized a local bike shop, stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise. The burglary happened just after 3 a.m. on Thursday, August 4, at Arizona Cyclist's Broadway location off of east Broadway and Craycroft in Tucson.
General Manager, Ryan Tiffin, said the crooks made off with two specialized bikes. He said the combined price of the bicycles is close to $10,000. Tiffin believes the criminals used a crow bar to pry open the front door. As soon as they broke in, a high-decibel alarm went off.
"That probably caused some panic and they ran through the store. We have motion sensor data on that. They were able to get away with two bikes," says Tiffin.
Tucson Police officers happened to be patrolling nearby and heard the alarm, but by the time they pulled in, the suspects were gone.
The stolen bikes are unique. One is a 2017, Orange, Rocky Mountain Pipeline 750 MSL. The other is a 2016 Black and Red, Specialized Fuse Expert 6 Fatty.
Tiffin said he's grateful they didn't get away with more, but it's still a big setback.
"It's frustrating as a small business. There's a lot of competition and the internet. Just having to deal with this kind of stuff makes it that much worse," says Tiffin.
Arizona Cyclist is hoping someone recognizes the bikes. If you do happen to see one of them, contact their Broadway store at (520) 745-8020 or email email@example.com.
