TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Tucson Electric Power Co.'s Santa Cruz substation just got a lot more colorful.

That's because employees, family members and friends from TEP and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum teamed up to create a giant paint-by-numbers mural on the side of the building along West Cushing Street near the Riverpark Inn.

Besides just being fun and colorful, the project is also meant to raise awareness about the importance of conserving Sonoran Desert pollinators, according to a TEP media release.

Yep, that means those pesky and sometimes frightening bees that are so important to our food chain.

Painting began Saturday morning and will wrap up Sunday morning.
