Tucson police find, arrest stolen car suspect at east-side intersection

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - According to the Tucson Police Department, police arrested a man suspected of stealing a car on Friday, Oct. 7. The intersection of East Speedway Boulevard and North Kolb Road was briefly closed during the incident.

Two eastbound turn lanes remain closed.

According to police, the incident began when a man stole a car from a woman outside her home in the 600 block of South Railroad Avenue, near South Fourth Avenue and East 16th Street. The man told the woman he needed a car, got in and left. 

No force was involved and no weapons were seen.

The suspect was being followed by a federal agent from homeland security when he took the car. Police are investigating why the agent was following the suspect.

Tucson police found the car heading east at Speedway and Kolb, and pulled it over.

The suspect, who had an injury from before the incident, was arrested and taken to a hospital. His condition was not immediately available.

The woman's dog, which was in the car when it was taken, was not harmed and has been returned to her.
