Officers were called to the Garden Plaza Apartments in the 100 block of Golf Links Road Monday night, about a possible murder.
"The caller said that White told them he killed his friend and roommate Brian Cook and hid the body in his bedroom closet," the SVPD said in a news release.
The officers found "significant blood trails leading from the bedroom closet into the living room" and also "detected the odor of human decomposition."
White allegedly told detectives he had become angry and strangled Cook during an argument several days prior. He explained the argument was over something very trivial. And the victim didn't physically attack him in any way. He had just become enraged by some of the things that the victim was saying.
"White said he concealed Cook's body in a suitcase stowed in the bedroom closet," the SVPD said. "He had been preparing to dispose of the body when officers arrived at the scene and intervened."
"You don't see a crime scene like this every day," said Sgt. Det. Brownson. "We've had other homicide cases over the years that were graphic or involved, it's rare to see something like this."
White is in the Cochise County Jail on $1 million bond
