Robbery suspect arrested by Pima Co. Sheriff's deputies

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Tucson Police Department assisted the Pima County Sheriff's Department in a search on Wednesday for a suspect involved in the robbery of a Wells Fargo on 6920 East Sunrise Drive.

PCSD arrested 49-year-old Jason Wells, in connection to the robbery. He faces the following charges: armed robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, unlawful use of means of transportation, and unlawful flight from law enforcement.

According to PCSD a man entered the Wells Fargo on Wednesday afternoon, armed with a handgun and demanded money. The employees complied and gave him an undisclosed amount of money. Witnesses report the suspect left the scene in a black Jeep Cherokee.

PCSD learned that the man had been wearing a disguise including a wig, safety vest, and surgical mask.

Deputies quickly found the black Jeep Cherokee and tried to stop it, but it quickly left the area.  PCSD followed the vehicle to Country Club Road and Mabel Street, where two suspects got out of the vehicle and ran.  A search of the area was conducted with help from TPD and the PCSD K9 unit, a short time later Wells was found and arrested.
