TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - There is new leadership for the 162nd Wing Air National Guard.
Brigadier General Andrew MacDonald took command during a ceremony Saturday, November 9 at the Tucson International Airport.
More than 1,200 Air National Guardsmen are now under MacDonald's control.
"I am humble and proud to wear your stars," said MacDonald to a crowd of family, friends and Air National Guardsmen.
MacDonald takes over for Brig. Gen. Howard Purcell who will be chief of staff at the Arizona National Guard headquarters in Phoenix, according to a release from the 162nd Wing Public Affairs.
MacDonald, who joined the Arizona Air National Guard in 1998, has served in multiple leadership positions with the 162nd Wing, according to the release.
