Pedestrian struck, killed near Desert Diamond Casino

PIMA COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A man was struck by a car and died early Saturday at South Nogales Highway and East Los Reales Road.

The pedestrian was crossing Nogales Highway around 3 a.m. on his way out of the nearby Desert Diamond Casino when he was hit on the northbound part of the road, according to Pima County Sheriff's Deputy Cody Gress, a department spokesman.

The man driving the vehicle remained on scene, and authorities do not suspect he was under the influence of anything at the time, Gress said.

The roadway remained closed for several hours, reopening around 7 a.m.
