TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - On Tuesday, Nov. 29, Customs and Border Protection agents at the Raul Hector Castro Port of Entry in Douglas arrested a 36-year-old man after he attempted to smuggle nearly 400 pounds of marijuana into the U.S., according to a recent release.
A CBP canine alerted agents to the possibility of drugs in the truck, and during a subsequent search they found bundles of marijuana hidden throughout the truck, including inside the tires.
The truck and drugs, worth an estimated $191,000, were seized by CBP and the suspect was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations. As the suspect had been living in the U.S. as a Legal Permanent Resident Alien.
