TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A police officer recovering from a gunshot wound in Tucson has been moved out of the Intensive Care Unit, according to an update from Tucson Police Department.
Officer Jorge Tequida is showing signs of improvement, according to Sgt. Pete Dugan with TPD.
He said Tequida has been upgrade from critical to fair condition.
Tequida and Officer Doug Wilfert were both shot while trying to serve a felony arrest warrant on Thursday. Investigators said the suspect, Jose Barron Gomez, was shot and killed.
Wilfert has been recovering at home, according to Dugan.
Tucson Police Officers Association announced a fundraiser for the families of Wilfert and Tequida on Monday, Dec. 5.
The event is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. at the Combined Law Enforcement Associations Office, which is located at 2231 E. Speedway Boulevard.
