ORO VALLEY, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Rescue crews were needed to help four hikers to safety after they were stranded at Catalina State Park on Saturday afternoon, according to Golder Ranch Fire District.

GRFD, along with crews from Southern Arizona Rescue Association, responded to a call just after 1:00 p.m. for a technical rescue. Crews said one person needed to be assisted down while the other three hikers were able to walk down on their own.

Ambulances were on scene but no one needed to go to the hospital, crews said.

GRFD recommends starting hikes early in the morning to avoid extreme temperatures. They also advise people wear proper footwear and stay hydrated during a hike.
