Deputies investigate possible armed robbery on NW side

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Pima County Sheriff's deputies are investigating an apparent armed robbery at a northwest-side credit union on Wednesday, March 15.

According to Dep. Cody Gress of the Pima County Sheriff's Department, the robbery happened at the Hughes Federal Credit Union on Thornydale and Magee just before 11 a.m.

The suspect is described as a white man, 20 to 30 years old with a slim build.

He entered the building wearing a red and black motorcycle helmet and jumped over the teller counter.

Gress said it appears that he implied a weapon, but detectives are still investigating.

The suspect got into the passenger door of a vehicle to escape, but no description of the getaway vehicle was immediately available.
