UPDATE: Range Fire near Ft. Huachuca 80 percent contained

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Range Fire burning near Fort Huachuca is 80 percent contained according to WildCAD.

According to a news release from Fort Huachuca, the fire began Wednesday afternoon, April 12, about four miles east of the Hubbard Landing Strip.

The wildfire has burned 799 acres, according to WildCAD, in an area of tall grass.

Hand crews are clearing the area and conducting back burn operations to limit growth of the fire.

About 80 firefighters from Fort Huachuca, the U.S. Forest Service, Whetstone, Douglas and Mount Taylor, NM are at the scene.
