TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A 13-year-old Tucson girl is recovering after being run over by a car on the city's east-side while riding her bike.

Juliet Freitag said she was riding her bicycle down Broadway Boulevard near Kolb Road last week when she claims a man pulled out of the parking lot near the Gaslight Theatre and struck her.

"He hit me and I went over and down," said Freitag. "I've always heard these stories about bicyclists getting hit and getting hurt real bad by cars and I was kind of surprised."

Freitag admits she was going the wrong way. She said she believes the person who hit her was driving a silver Mercedes.

"Why? Why didn't you stop," she tells the driver. "Like why didn't you just come in and help? Just why?"

Pictures posted on social media show Freitag's left arm filled with bruises and even an imprint of tire tread. Despite the incident, Freitag did not suffer any broken bones and is healing well.

Freitag's mom, Leticia Freitag, said she received a call from a woman who stopped to help Juliet until paramedics arrived. She said they filed a police report shortly after the incident.

"The lesson is definitely learned," said Leticia Freitag.
