UPDATE: Police confirm body found in Vail is missing teen
VAIL, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Authorities have confirmed a body found Thursday afternoon is the Vail teen who went missing from her home the previous day.
Sgt. Pete Dugan, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department, said the body of Jayden Glomb was found between Cienega High School and Empire High School in Vail around 11 a.m. Thursday.
Glomb went missing from her home at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, about 13 hours before her body was found.
Dugan said it is being investigating as a suspicious death.
The Vail Unified School District Confirmed Glomb was a seventh grader at Old Vail Middle School, which is just two miles from where her body was found near the side of the road.
The VUSD said grief counselors have been at a number of Vail schools Friday and they will continue to be there to talk with students as long as needed.
Late Friday evening the Vail School District posted a statement from a representative of Glomb's family on its Facebook page.
"We appreciate the love and compassion of everyone who have surrounded Joshua and Jessica Lelevier, Robert Glomb, and their families following the loss of their daughter, Jayden Glomb.
The city of Vail, our Air Force & Air Force Reserve communities, 943rd Rescue Group, and so many others have poured out prayers and sent love and light to everyone involved. Thank you.
In response to multiple requests from the communities that wish to help, this YouCaring site has been established to help Jayden's families and the expenses they will face in the days ahead.
