TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire at a scrap yard on the south side of Tucson on Wednesday afternoon, June 28.
The fire at The Scrap Yard, 3174 E. Ajo Way, began around 5 p.m. and several witnesses said they heard an explosion before it started.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
There are several kinds of material in the scrap yard, which caused the thick black smoke seen by many in Tucson.
"I was really scared," said Jorge Santana, who was at a tire shop next to the scrap yard when the fire started. "I've never seen anything like this. It was the biggest one I've seen. We heard like a big boom, then the fire came. We went here and we saw the whole explosion and it was big."
