TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Tucson police have identified the man who died after a shooting in an east-side neighborhood Wednesday morning, July 26.
Sgt. Pete Dugan, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department, said 40-year-old Gabriel Escalante was found shot in the 8700 block of East Almond Street.
Tucson police said one man, 21-year-old Jordan Ewer, was arrested for his involvement in the shooting. Police have identified two other men involved in the shooting. One of those men has not been charged, and police are still trying to locate the other man to speak with him.
Dugan said Escalante died at the scene.
"Although the investigation is still in the early stages, detectives were able to determine that the shooting was not a random act of violence," Dugan said in a news release. "The victim and suspects knew each other and were involved in an altercation near the victim's home."
Dugan said the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived.
