TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Two lanes of Interstate 10 westbound near the Ruthrauff exit were temporarily closed Tuesday night, Aug. 8, after a liquid leaked from an 18-wheeler, officials said.

Drivers reported the leak to authorities around 5:50 p.m. and emergency crews treated it as a haz-mat situation.

The Northwest Fire District, Tucson Fire Department and Arizona Department of Public Safety responded to the call and tested the liquid, which turned out to be oil from a drum.

The lanes were reopened and travel resumed before 9 p.m.

Brian Keeley, spokesman for the NWFD, said callers reported seeing the fluid leaking from the cargo area of the truck and the vehicle had hazardous materials placards.
