UPDATE: All lanes have reopened on EB I-10 near Ruthrauff
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - All lanes of eastbound I-10 near Ruthrauff are back open Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 16 after a vehicle fire slowed traffic in the area.
It was a vehicle fire caused by a flat tire on a car hauler, according to AZ Department of Public Safety Trooper Karl Jensen, that forced the shutdown.
There were no injuries from the fire, according to Northwest Fire District Deputy Chief Scott Hamblen, and three cars were damaged.
Several 911 calls were received about a truck on fire around 2:35 p.m., according to NWFD.
The driver of the truck did stop, and several people attempted to put the fire out with extinguishers, but it did not work. According to Hamblen a water tender was called in to help put out the fire.
Drivers are advised to use caution when in the area as traffic is slow, and use an alternate route if possible.
