TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - One man died Monday in a rollover crash on River Road on Tuesday morning, Sept. 12.
According to Tucson police, 26-year-old Michael Herrera, the sole occupant in the car, died at the scene. The crash happened just after 3 a.m. in the 1000 block of East River Road.
Police detectives determined that Herrera was driving east on River Road at a high rate of speed at a bend in the roadway. The car ended up in the westbound lanes.
Police have not yet determined if Herrera was driving while impaired.
The car, a black Chevrolet Impala, had been stolen from a used car dealership shortly before the crash, according to police.
The road was closed between First Avenue and Via Entrada for roughly five hours for the investigation, and was reopened at about 8 a.m.
The eastbound lanes opened just before 7 a.m.
