TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Tucson Police Department have identified a woman killed in a crash on the city's south side on Saturday.

TPD said 25-year-old Jimena Jimenez was killed after being hit by a car.

TPD said a driver in a 2006 BMW sedan was heading northbound on 12th Avenue approaching Canada Street when Jimenez was walking across the street near 12th Avenue. TPD said Jimenez stepped in front of the vehicle. She was not in or near a crosswalk.

TPD said the driver was unable to avoid hitting Jimenez, and she was struck in the roadway. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests or citations have been issued at this time, TPD said.
