UPDATE: Police identify victim of fatal crash on Tucson's SW side

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Police have identified the victim of a single-vehicle fatal crash on Tucson's southwest side.

According to the Tucson Police Department, 60-year-old Guy Hanft Jr. died when the pickup he was driving crashed into a wash on the north side of West Ajo Way near South Mission Road on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

A woman who was a passenger was ejected from the truck. She was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said on Thursday, Jan. 18, that the woman's condition has stabilized and that she is improving.

Police are investigating the possibility of the driver suffering a medical issue before the crash. Speed does not appear to be a factor in this crash, police said.
