TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Tucson police have identified the woman, who was killed after a collision with a school bus, as 61-year-old Kerry O'Donnell.
According to police, O'Donnell was taken to Banner UMC where she later died. The crash occurred around 7 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1.
The Tucson Unified School District bus, which was headed to Bonillas Elementary School, had two students on board, according to a district spokesman. No one else was injured during the collision.
Detectives were able to determine that O'Donnell was on the south side of the intersection walking westbound across North Swan Road. She was in the crosswalk and had a green traffic signal. The TUSD school bus was traveling northbound in the median lane, approaching the red traffic signal at Ft. Lowell Road. The driver did not see O'Donnell or the red signal light and collided with her.
Speed does not appear to be a factor, according to a TPD news release. No arrests or citations have been made at this time, as this is still an on-going investigation.
