UPDATE: Vail man accused of killing wife, daughter pleads not guilty
VAIL, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Newly released documents from the Pima County Sheriff's Department provide new details in the double homicide case in Vail earlier this month.
Investigators say 44-year-old Hernando Enriquez admitted attacking his wife, daughter and son.
His wife, 43-year-old Sandra Enriquez and his 15-year-old daughter Isabelle were found dead in a bathtub by deputies. The son was able to escape and run to a neighbor's house to get help.
Enriquez was arraigned Friday, Feb. 23 and pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, kidnapping and domestic violence. His next court date, a case management conference, is set for March 27.
The incident report said both Sandra and Isabelle had severe lacerations on their neck and stomach.
The documents also say deputies found signs of struggle in the house. There were things scattered on the floor, pools of blood throughout the house and a hole in the wall.
The son told deputies Enriquez had never been violent in the past and he was a good father.
He also said "I just know they're dead. My dad killed them", referring to his mom and sister.
The documents also said he had wounds on his arm and head. He was covered in blood and going in and out of consciousness as he was talking to deputies.
Deputies found Enriquez face down in a culvert near the home with what appeared to be self inflicted injuries. He told deputies "please kill me."
His throat was cut, he had knife slash marks on his chest and a punctured lung, according to the documents.
Deputies collected four knives in home as evidence and also found a knife near the culvert where Enriquez was found.
Neighbors who were interviewed by detectives describe the family as quiet, friendly and very religious. They also said Sandra never spoke of any problems at home.
Enriquez is being held without bond. He's charged with first degree murder and attempted murder.
