Study: Noses looks bigger in selfies

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - If you think your nose looks too big on your selfies, it's not's the selfie.

A brand new report says selfies taken at a distance of about 12 inches from the face increases perceived nose size by nearly 30 percent.

The report was published Thursday in the JAMA Facial Plastic Surgery journal.

In it, the authors write "we found that photographs taken at shorter distances will increase the perceived ratio of nasal breadth to bizygomatic breadth. Importantly, this distortion does not accurately reflect the 3-dimensional appearance of the nose."

The study said 42 percent of plastic surgeons have asked for cosmetic procedures to improve the way they look in selfies.
