Fire forces evacuation of Tucson school

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A Tucson elementary school was evacuated when a fire broke out on the east-side campus on Tuesday, March 13.
According to Capt. Andrew Skaggs of the Tucson Fire Department, the fire was at Soleng Tom Elementary School, 10520 E Camino Quince, near South Houghton Road and East Broadway Boulevard.
An air conditioning unit on the outside of a mobile classroom unit caught fire. Smoke from this fire reached the pre-K classroom and triggered the fire alarm.
Teachers and students evacuated the buildings and met at pre-arranged locations. No injuries were reported.
According to a statement from the Tucson Unified School District, all the children are safe and the school is continuing normally.
The main building was never in danger and didn't need to be evacuated.
Two classrooms in the mobile unit were damaged by the fire.
