Having a plan is one thing. Paying for it is another.
Governor Doug Ducey is out with a plan to help keep our kids safe at school.
It includes an increase in mental and behavioral health resources, creating a tip line and enhancing gun background checks.
Governor Ducey suggests $2 million from the state and another $6 million from the feds to pay for it.
While we are glad the governor is stepping up to face the issue, we already have issues with education funding here in Arizona. We need to make sure that when it comes to paying for this plan, we don't cut corners or make empty promises.
Our teachers already feel this state has let them down when it comes to pay and resources. We don't need more of that.
