TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - #2 seed Pima gave a valiant effort but fell just short of a NJCAA Division II national championship Saturday losing to Triton (IL) 89-85 in Danville, IL.

It's the Trojans (33-4) first national title. Triton lost to Kirkwood (IA) in the 2016 championship game.

The Aztecs (31-5) were playing in the first championship game in their program's history. The 31 victories are the most ever for a Pima men's basketball team.

Sophomore guard Alize Travis led PCC with 22 points. Cienega high school products Daren (Kevin) Biggs and Isaiah Murphy both scored 16 points.

Alondes Williams led the top-seed Trojans with 22 points.
