TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Police have arrested and charged a suspect with murder after they found a man dead inside an apartment complex.
20-year-old David Turner was taken in custody in the parking lot of the complex and was found with a handgun, according to a news release from the Tucson Police Department.
At 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 25, police received a 911 call about a possible domestic violence incident at an apartment complex at 3201 E. Fort Lowell Road. When they got there, officers said they found a woman outside and learned that Turner, her boyfriend, was armed with a gun and had forcibly broken into an apartment she was visiting.
She told police Turner shot and killed the man inside her apartment with her.
After detaining Turner in the parking lot, police said they went inside the apartment to find 24-year-old Javier Quiroz dead inside with obvious signs of gunshot trauma.
Detectives said, "Turner had kicked in the door after learning his girlfriend was visiting Quiroz behind his back."
Turner allegedly shot Quiroz multiple times then pointed the gun at his girlfriend and would not let her leave, the news release said. She was eventually able to get out of the apartment where she located family and police.
Turner was booked into the Pima County Jail on charges of first-degree murder, domestic violence - aggravated assault, and domestic violence - kidnapping.
