TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - After days of requesting information, Tucson News Now has learned more about a federal investigation in the Three Points area.

The incident began Monday, March 26, when several agencies executed a search warrant at a compound near Ajo Highway and Sierrita Mountain Road.

Tucson News Now received multiple reports about a heavy law enforcement presence in the area and we have been trying to find out what was going since.

On Thursday, the Department of Homeland Security said while no suspects were located inside the compound, agents did find signs of a shooting along with weapons, body armor and money.

According to the news release, federal agents believe the compound was connected to a drug and/or human smuggling ring.

Among the weapons found were a .50 caliber firearm and inert grenade.
