TPD identifies pedestrian killed after being hit in road Thursday night
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Police have identified the woman hit and killed by a driver in a car in midtown Thursday night, March 29.
Just after 10:00 Thursday night, Tucson Police Department officers and Tucson Fire Department officials arrived to find 29-year-old Ambrosa Wood in the roadway on East Grant Road near Catalina Avenue with serious injuries, Tucson Police said in a news release sent out Sunday, April 1.
Paramedics took Wood to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the hospital with her family at her side on March 31, TPD said.
Detectives said Wood was not in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing when she was hit by the driver of a blue 2016 Volkswagen Jetta, headed westbound on Grant Road in the curb lane. Officers said the driver did not see Wood before striking her and speed does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
Detectives said they are still trying to determine if impairment was a factor, but no charges or citations have been issued yet.
