TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The man injured in an officer-involved shooting in early April has been released from the hospital and arrested on several charges.
The Tucson Police Department said Eyan Gastelum, 25, was arrested April 9 on charges of domestic violence and drug possession.
The TPD said on April 4, Gastelum and his father got into an argument at a home in the 1300 block of North Falcon Ridge Drive.
Officers said they found Gastelum and his father struggling over a handgun.
"As they were giving commands to drop the weapon, the handgun was fired," the TPD said in a news release. "One officer discharged his firearm, striking Gastelum."
The officer involved in the shooting was identified as officer Gustavo Castro, a 3 1/2-year veteran of the department.
