TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Tucson man accused of killing his girlfriend earlier this week was arrested after turning himself in to police.

The Tucson Police Department said Joshua Johnathan Hilaire was arrested Tuesday, May 8 on a charge of first-degree murder.

According to the Pima County Adult Detention Center's website, Hilaire is being held on a $1 million bond.

The Tucson Police Department said the 21-year-old Hilaire killed his girlfriend, 18-year-old Rosaura Hernandez, at an apartment complex on Sunday, May 6.

Hernandez, who lived with Hilaire, was discovered injured and unresponsive by family members who forced their way into her apartment at Summit Ridge Apartments.

The TPD said Hernandez had obvious signs of blunt force trauma and died at the scene.

April Barbosa, Hernandez's mother, told Tucson News Now her daughter recently decided to break up with Hilaire.
