TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - It has been just over a month and the Villegas family is no closer to finding the person or persons responsible for nearly killing their aunt. Now, the family is hoping 88-CRIME can help them solve this case.
On the afternoon of April 7, Neri Villegas went to Food City at 22nd and Country Club to cash a check. Her family says, as she was leaving a man stole her purse. Neri didn't have a cell phone, so she started heading towards a yard sale to get help.
The Villegas family told Tucson News Now that an SUV drove up to Neri, ran her over and then took off. Jennica Villegas, Neri's niece said the driver just left her aunt out on the street.
We were able to get our hands on surveillance video of that day from the family. It shows the SUV driving down 23rd Street pretty fast. The family also shared pictures with us of Neri following the crash.
The SUV is described as a 2004-2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer with front bumper damage.
The Villegas family has also collected money and is offering a $1,000 reward of their own to the person who can help them get an arrest in this case.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call 88-CRIME or click the following link: http://88crime.org/hitandruncase/
88-CRIME is also offering up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in this case.
