UPDATE: Sheriff's office declares all-clear after threat closes Buena HS, MVD in Sierra Vista
SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - An all-clear has been given after Buena High School in Sierra Vista was evacuated because of a bomb threat on Wednesday morning, May 23.
According to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office, the scene was cleared and access to the school was open at 12:30 p.m.
The Sheriff's office posted an update on its Facebook page saying no suspicious devices were found during a search of the campus at 5225 E. Buena School Boulevard by local, state and federal agencies.
According to the post, explosive ordnance disposal personnel from Cochise County, the Arizona Department of Public Safety and Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were at the scene for an in-depth search after a primary sweep by four canines.
Parents were told to stay away from the campus. Students were bused to the Rothery Educational Service Center on Fry Boulevard.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said the Sierra Vista Motor Vehicle Division closed it's location because of the police activity in the area. MVD customers were advised to use Service Arizona instead.
The school's senior class is scheduled to graduate Thursday night, May 24.
