TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - An hours-long standoff on Tucson's west side ended peacefully Monday, June 4 and the suspect is facing a host of charges.
The Tucson Police Department said the incident began around 8:20 a.m. when they received a burglary call from the owner of Just Right Mattress Outlet, 954 W. Prince Road.
The TPD said the suspect, 37-year-old Herman Archuleta, barricaded himself inside the building when officers arrived on the scene.
Archuleta is facing three counts of burglary and one count of criminal damage.
TPD was told Archuleta was armed so SWAT was called out, a section of Prince Road was shut down and several businesses in the area were evacuated.
At 3 p.m., SWAT went into the building, Archuleta was arrested peacefully and the road and businesses were reopened.
There were no shots fired and Archuleta was treated at the hospital for heat-related injuries.
According to the TPD, Archuleta was armed with an air rifle.
