UPDATE: Power restored at trailer park in Flowing Wells area

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Red Cross came to the aid of some Tucson residents suffering from the summer heat.
The organization opened a heat relief shelter for residents of the Desert Sun Mobile Home Park, who were without power for hours on Wednesday, July 6.
By 5:30 p.m., the lights were back on in the park.
The Red Cross said the shelter, at the Ellie Town Flowing Wells Community Center on Ruthrauff Road, was also for anyone who needed relief from the heat,
There were nearly 25 homes without power and air conditioning, which impacted 20-25 families and 30-40 kids, according to the Red Cross.
Tucson Electric Power was on scene at Desert Sun Mobile Home Park and expected to have power fully restored by 7 p.m. They beat that goal by more than 1 1/2 hours.
The mobile home park manager told Tucson News Now a power surge underground set off a small fire, charring the ground and the edge of a nearby trailer.
"I'm used to working in the heat, but the kids aren't," said Michael Lewis, who was at the shelter with his five children. "I'm glad there is a place for us to stay cool while we wait."
The relief shelter, which stayed open until TEP restored power, had cold water, drinks and snacks for the families.
